Our privacy approach
HomeBound is a pet recovery and care platform built around pet safety, recovery, and owner privacy. We aim to collect only the information reasonably needed to provide HomeBound features and operate the service.
HomeBound is operated by HomeBound Pet Technologies LLC.
Information we may collect
Depending on the features you use, HomeBound may process:
- Account information, such as your email address and account identifier.
- Pet profile information, photos, identifying details, and care information.
- Lost and Found report details, including locations you choose to submit.
- Messages and information shared through Secure Reunion tools.
- Pet health records, reminders, documents, and other information you choose to store.
- Community content you choose to post or share.
- Technical and service information used for security, troubleshooting, and product performance.
- An email address you submit to receive beta or launch updates.
Location information
Recovery features may use approximate or precise location when you choose to provide it. Location information can be sensitive. HomeBound uses it to support recovery-related features such as Lost and Found reports, finder submissions, and map-based recovery tools.
Public Smart Tag information
A public HomeBound Smart Tag page is intended to show only recovery-safe pet information. HomeBound does not intend for a public Smart Tag page to display an owner's home address, private email address, private phone number, private medical records, or microchip number.
Finder submissions
A finder may choose to send a message, location note, or other recovery information through a Smart Tag or recovery feature. These submissions may be provided to the pet owner through HomeBound to help coordinate recovery.
How we use information
- Provide and maintain HomeBound features.
- Help owners and finders coordinate pet recovery.
- Organize pet care records, documents, reminders, and related tools requested by the user.
- Send beta or launch updates when a visitor has requested them.
- Protect HomeBound, prevent misuse, investigate problems, and troubleshoot errors.
- Understand beta usage and improve service performance and product design.
How information may be shared
HomeBound does not sell personal information to advertisers. Information may be shared when you choose to share it, with service providers that help us operate HomeBound, when needed to protect users or the service, or when required by law.
Your choices
You control the information you choose to add to HomeBound. Some features may allow you to update, delete, deactivate, or stop sharing information. If you signed up for launch communications, you may ask us to stop sending those communications at any time.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, support safety and recovery features, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain appropriate business records. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and feature.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the type of information processed. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Children
HomeBound is not intended for children to create independent accounts unless a future version specifically supports and documents that use.
Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Notice as HomeBound evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide additional notice when appropriate.
